“Wyoming Playground” 30 x 30 in., oil on linen
There is an intimacy to be found while drawing that can rarely be reached working with other mediums. This may result from working with the simplest materials, usually just a graphite pencil and a sheet of paper. Or it may be the consequence of the lack of color that places us in a psychological state removing us from our perceived real world and allowing us to see subjects as they are, unclouded by deceptions of color. Whatever the cause, drawing opens avenues leading the artist to the essence of his or her subjects.
